Issue Description:
Tilted SBus connectors prevents installation of SBus cards in the
2nd SBus slot. Visual inspection is not effective in determining
marginal, but unacceptable, tilt.
This is a very uncommon problem with an estimated exposure of less than
one percent (<1%) based on screening results in Sun manufacturing (WWOPS).
Only a small percentage of boards built in Milpitas from February through
April, 1997 are affected.
Implementation:
---
| | MANDATORY (Fully Pro-Active)
---
---
| | CONTROLLED PRO-ACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
---
---
| X | UPON FAILURE
---
Replacement Time Estimate:
30 minutes
Special Considerations:
Corrective Action:
Replace upon failure any Ultra 1 or Ultra 2 CPU board, found with tilted
SBus connector where the installation of an SBus card(s) cannot be
accomplished, with a board having the "DPCO_123" label OR a board having
a higher dash number than is listed in the affected part numbers section
of this FCO.
Comments:
There is no way to determine affectivity by either board date code range
or serial number.
Boards that have gone through the repair cycle and have been inspected will
be labeled with a "DPCO_123" label. This label will be located next to
existing 501 part number label.
Billing Type:
Warranty: Sun will provide parts at no charge under Warranty
