Issue Description:
Sun StorEdge T3 (Purple) Arrays shipped prior to General Availability have the
potential of experiencing intermittent parity or 'no cache found' errors. Sun
StorEdge T3 Arrays with hubs are not supported with controllers earlier than
revision J7. Shown below are typical error messages.
0 MBytes Cache Memory Detected
OR
125722 Cache memory parity error detected
To recover from the above failure the array would need to be rebooted.
The problem results in a loss of data access, not actual data loss.
The root cause of the intermittent failures are related to an improper clock
termination value, a missing clock termination, erroneous PLD program for the
MIA init, and an erroneous PLD program for cache memory initialization. The
controller hardware and firmware in pre-GA (General Availability) units needs
to be upgraded. The General Availability date of the Sun StorEdge T3 Array
is June 14 2000.
Corrective action was made available in Sun Manufacturing by releasing the
375-0084-02 (J9) controller via ECO# WO_17890 on June 14, 2000. Corrective
action was made available in Enterprise Services via LEAP# 1110 on October 20,
2000.
Revenue Release (RR) for this product occured on March 23, 2000. Only Sun
StorEdge T3 Arrays that shipped after the official RR date qualify for
upgrade as part of this Field Change Order.
For information on units shipped prior to March 23, 2000, and to determine if
the units qualify for an Array Swap program, contact Network Storage Quality
and Customer Care. Provide customer name and Sun StorEdge T3 Array serial
number in the email to `nws.customercare@sun.com'.

Corrective Action:
Upgrade Revenue Released (RR), pre-GA Sun StorEdge T3 Arrays by replacing
T3 Array Controller P/N 375-0084-01 with 375-0084-02. Please see section 4.2
in the StorEdge T3 Disk Array Field Service Manual, 806-4213-11, for T3
Controller replacement instructions.
After replacing the T3 Array Controller, update the T3 firmware by downloading
the files included with Patch 109115-05. The patch README file contains
detailed instructions for installing the T3 firmware.
Below is the minimum firmware levels for the Sun StorEdge T3 Array:
Controller EPROM Flash - 2.10
Interconnect Card Firmware - 5.02
Controller Boot Code - 1.16
Please check that the software and firmware levels for the T3 StorEdge
Array are current as per the Software Support Matrix available from:
http://hes.west/nws/products/T3/patches.html
If they are not current, please update the patch levels as needed.
