Issue Description:
SunBlade 1000 workstations shipped between October 1, 2000 and November 20, 2000
with 128MB Mitsubishi DIMMs installed may experience intermittant ECC Memory
Errors. Only DIMMs within serial number range 037Axxxx to 045Axxxx are affected.
Reference the following postscript file for a complete list of theaffected serial
numbers;

http://sdpsweb.EBay/FIN_FCO/FCO/FCO_A0181-1_Dir/181serial.ps

Below is a typical unix error message when a correctable error occurs;

  gg010 SUNW,UltraSPARC-III: ECC Data Bit 82 was corrected
  gg010 unix: Softerror: Intermittent ECC Memory Error, on J0100,
  Memory controller 0

Error Correcting Code (ECC) on the DIMM insures there will be no data corruption.

Root cause determined the supply vendor had a machine maintenance problem
which caused particle defects for a specific DIMM datecode of 031151D. The
supply vendor has incorporated a low-voltage margin test.

Although approximately 300 SunBlade 1000 systems shipped in the affected
timeframe, 117 of these systems were screened, leaving approximately 183 systems
still affected. Of these, approximately 50 percent shipped with 128MB DIMMs, and
the majority of these were shipped only in the United States. No affected xoptions
or FRUs were shipped out of manufacturing. A Depot Process Change Order (DPCO 250)
was released on June 29, 2001 instructing the field to screen for and scrap
affected material.

Screened (good) systems, shipped in the affected timeframe, will have a Worldwide
StopShip/Purge label as follows;  WSS001#03695.
Implementation:
---
|   |   MANDATORY (Fully Pro-Active)
 ---

 ---
| | CONTROLLED PRO-ACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
 ---

 ---
| X |   UPON FAILURE
 ---
Replacement Time Estimate:
1.0 hours
Special Considerations:
Corrective Action:
Upon Failure replace 501-4489-06 identified as Mitsubishi and having
DIMM date code 031151D with 501-4489-06 (or above) having DIMM date
code other than 031151D, or with a 501-4489-06 (or above) having a
Worldwide StopShip/Purge label "WSS001#03695".

Use the below information to identify affected Systems and DIMMs.

Identifying Affected Systems
----------------------------

Locate the part number/serial number tag on the back of the system.
If the system serial number is between 037Axxxx and 045Axxxx the
system could be affected. Only systems with a serial number having
an A as the 4th digit (meaning the system shipped from Aston, UK) are
affected. Systems with a serial number having an F or C as the 4th
digit are not affected.

Identifying Affected 128MB DIMMs;
--------------------------------

Look for a small white manufacturing label located on the DIMM that shows
the Mitsubishi symbol, followed by the word "Japan", then a series of
numbers. If those numbers are 031151D the DIMM is affected. If those
numbers are anything else the DIMM is not affected.

The below links show a picture of the white label on an unaffected
Mitsubishi DIMM and a Samsung DIMM;

 http://sdpsweb.EBay/FIN_FCO/FCO/FCO_A0181-1_Dir/Samsung.jpg

Samsung DIMMs say "Samsung" and are not affected.

Please refer to the SunBlade 1000 Service Manual (805-4496-10), Section 8.5
for DIMM replacement instructions. This manual can be located on EDIST at
