Issue Description:
EMI cap screws on PCI Cassettes in Sun Fire 12K/15K platforms may tighten
over time, making it difficult to remove I/O adapter cards. The issue may
be encountered if it is necessary to remove the EMI cap from a cassette in
order to replace a faulty cassette, replace a defective I/O card, or to
upgrade an I/O card. There is no impact to a running system.
This issue occurs because the two M3x5 screws securing the EMI cap can become
excessively tight. Attempted removal of the screws may result in damage to
the heads of the screws, rendering the cassette useless. If this occurs, the
cassette would need to be replaced.
This issue occurs due to a reaction between dissimilar materials that causes
the torque of the screws to increase over time. The reaction is between the
zinc screws and a cosmetic film on the casting of the cassette.
The issue was originally resolved in manufacturing by reducing the torque
value of the screws and was permanently solved via ECO WO_28346 by changing
the screw material to stainless steel.

it will be materially ready to support this FCO.
Corrective Action:
Replace 501-5600-08 (or lower) with 501-5600-09 (or higher)
or with 501-5600-xx having DPCO 477 label.
Replace 501-6086-04 (or lower) with 501-6086-05 (or higher)
or with 501-6086-xx with DPCO 477 label.
If this issue is seen while attempting to remove the EMI cap from an affected
cassette, the following actions should be taken:
1. Attempt to remove the screws from the EMI cap:
- Place the cassette onto a hard surface.
- Using a Phillips #1 driver that fits snugly into the screw, press down
firmly while unscrewing.
- If the screw on the first side does not break free, try the screw on the
other side, as this may make a subsequent attempt successful.
2. If the above fails and the head of the screw is destroyed:
- The cassette should be replaced per this FCO.
- Attempt to remove the I/O adapter card from the cassette. To accomplish
this, move the cassette to an acceptable location and and attempt to
drill out the head of the screw or use a screw extraction bit. The old
cassette should be considered scrap.
- If it is not possible to remove the I/O card from the cassette via the
previous step, return the entire unit (cassette + I/O card) for repair.
Note: This issue will only be encountered during ongoing maintenance activity.
All procedures in the Sun Fire 12K/15K Systems Service Manual,
P/N 806-3512-12, Section 9.2, should be closely adhered to.

If a Radiance case involves the application of an FCO to solve a customer
issue, please complete the following steps in Radiance/SPWeb prior to
closing the case:
o Select "Field Change Order" in the REFERENCE TYPE field.
o Enter FCO ID number in the REFERENCE ID field.
For example; A0222-1.
If possible, include additional details in the REFERENCE SUMMARY field
(ie. Upgrade complete, customer declined, etc.)

Implementation Notes
--------------------
In case of "Mandatory" FCOs, Sun Services will attempt to contact
all known customers to recommend proactive implementation.
For "Controlled Proactive" FCOs, Sun Services mission critical
support teams will initiate proactive implementation efforts for
their respective accounts, as required.
For "Upon Failure" FCOs, Sun Services and partners will implement
the necessary corrective actions as the need arises.
The CIC process must be used for proactive hardware replacement
requests when an FCO is classified as "Upon Failure".
Billing Information

Warranty: Sun will provide parts at no charge under Warranty
Service. On-Site Labor Rates are based on specified
Warranty deliverables for the affected product.
Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge. On-Site Labor Rates
are based on the type of service contract.
Non Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge. Installation by
Sun is available based on the On-Site Labor Rates
defined in the Price List.
