	X6001A Sony 3.5" Floppy Drive
X6003A Sony 3.5" Floppy Drive For Ultra 2
Parts Affected:

Issue Description:
Some floppy drives were received from the vendor at Sun manufacturing with an
incorrect select ID jumper setting (for drive 1 instead of drive 0).
Consequently a small number of these Floppy drives may have been shipped out
to customers in an X-option or FRU packaging.

The incorrect jumper setting will prevent the floppy drive from being
recognized by the workstation during boot up or user access. If the floppy
drive is known to be physically installed in the workstation and cannot be
accessed, the following corrective action should be implemented.
Corrective Action:
In order to ensure proper functionality of the drive the ID jumper MUST
be present on the "drive select 0" side of the jumper block. (See
Diagram Below) The floppy "drive select" jumper block is located
adjacent to the power connector on the left side of the rear view of
the floppy drive.

Install the ID jumper plug on the "drive Select 0" side of the jumper
block if it is not present.

Comments:
Corrective actions have been taken to screen for the incorrect jumper
setting at Sun Manufacturing/vendor as of August 19, 1996.

In all likelihood most shipments have been caught by the test screening
process and this FIN is being released to address the possibility of a
few floppy drives which may have escaped the test screening process.
