Issue Description:
In this -2 update to FINI0537-1, the following changes have been made
to the FIN.
1. Problem Description has been expanded to include the 2 paragraphs
shown below.
2. The Corrective Action now includes additional steps - steps 3 to 6.
Improper seating of memory riser card will cause the system to fail
self-test (no output to console) or to fail with intermittent memory
errors. It is recommended that a Torque-Push-Torque method of seating
the riser card to the main logic board to be used whenever someone
replaces this card after servicing.
The most common symptom of a mis-seated or improperly installed memory
riser card is that the system will fail self-test and causes no output
displayed on the system console after adding or replacing memory on U80
based systems. This problem has been reported on units from customers
when upgrading memory.
When replacing the memory riser assembly in one of the above mentioned
Ultra 80 based systems, caution should be used when tightening the
memory riser assembly thumbscrews that hold the card in position.
Failure to properly assemble these parts to the correct torque setting,
can cause intermittent memory related system problems. Too little
torque can cause no memory to be found in the system upon powerup and
too much torque can cause damage to the motherboard Memory Riser card
connectors. The correct torque value to use is 5.0 in. lbs.
New E420R and t 1400/1405 systems will include a torque driver tool
(F250-1161-01).

Corrective Action:
The following recommendations are provided as a guideline for authorized
Enterprise Services Field Representatives and Enterprise Customers to
clarify and emphasize the support restrictions for replacing or
installing the above mentioned memory riser assembly;
1. Prepare for replacing the memory riser card in the E420R/Ultra80/Netra
t 1400/1405 main logic board by making sure you have a calibrated torque
tool. The recommended tool is the Torque Driver Tool (F250-1611-01)
provided with new E420R and t 1400/1405 systems. Do not attempt to
replace the riser card in the motherboard without using an appropriate
torque tool.
2. Carefully align the connector of the assembly and the motherboard
connector. The memory riser card is not only sensitive to torque
values, but also to alignment.
3. Carefully seat the riser card into mating connectors on the motherboard.
Secure the connection by simultaneously turning both thumbscrews clockwise
one wrist turn (180 degrees). The two screws should be finger-tightened
simultaneously before using the torque driver.
4. When the screws are finger-tightened, use the tool to alternately turn
one thumbscrew and then the other by one wrist turn (180 degrees),
continue using this method until the proper torque value is reached (5
inch lbs) at which time the torque tool will make a "clicking" sound,
confirming the correct value has been reached.
5. After the Riser Card is torqued as in step 4, press firmly down
with the palm of your hands on the top-center of the riser card.
Make sure that you press straight down on the card to seat the
board with the correct alignment.
6. After pressed downward on the assembly in the previous step,
Re-torque the thumbscrews again, alternating one turn each, until
the torque tool makes a "clicking" sound once again. When both screws
have been torqued so the torque tool makes the "clicking" sound, you
have completed the replacement procedure.
NOTE: Check connector pins for damage by "eyeballing" down the rows of
pins on both the main logic board as well as the memory riser card.
Equipment damage can results from insertion of mis-aligned connector pins.

Implementation Footnote:
i) In case of MANDATORY FINs, Enterprise Services will attempt to
contact all affected customers to recommend implementation of
the FIN.
ii) For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Enterprise Services mission critical
support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN (to their
respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer.
iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Enterprise Services will implement the FIN as the
need arises.
