Manual: 817-2675-10 (Rev A): Sun Fire V1280/Netra 1280 Systems CPU/Memory
                             Board Installation Guide.
Issue Description:
Improper installation of CPU/Memory Boards, Level 2 Repeaters, or
IB-SSC Boards into a Sun Fire V1280/Netra 1280 chassis could result in
damage to the system baseplane. The chance of this happening is small,
however, a new service procedure has been documented to prevent this
occurrence.

This issue affects any Sun Fire V1280/Netra 1280 system when any of the
above mentioned FRUs are replaced or installed.

System design and the previous FRU installation procedure contributes
to higher than expected amount of damage to the baseplane caused by FRU
replacements. The previous procedure required pushing on the board for
the entire length of the board's travel and an inexperienced person
might push down too hard for too long and cause a board to slam into
the baseplane at the end of its travel.

A new FRU installation procedure is available. Now, instead of pushing
down the entire way, the handles should be held for the last few inches
of travel so that the boards will not slam into the baseplane. Holding
the handles open will keep the board from seating until the handles are
closed.

The new procedure is documented in Sun Fire V1280/Netra 1280 Systems
CPU/Memory Board Installation Guide, 817-2675-10 Rev A.

Note: While this document refers specifically to the X-Option
CPU/Memory Uniboard, the same technique also applies to the IB_SSC and
Level 2 Repeater Board.

Guide, 817-2675-10 Rev A.
