Issue Description:
The CPU die temperature reported by 'prtdiag' and 'prtpicl' is
incorrect on Sun Blade 100/150, and is not a supported function. The
reported temperature should not be used for troubleshooting. Any Sun
Blade 100/150 system may be affected, however this issue has little
impact on the operation or servicing of the Sun Blade desktops, and
there has been no documented reports from the field on this issue.
The ADM1021AA chip (Digital Thermometer) is reporting inaccurate die
temperature. The reported die temperature erroneously correlates to
the number of installed DIMMS. The more DIMMs installed on a system
with the ADM1021AA chip, the higher the die temperature reading.
In order to get a list of both the CPU and Temperature sensor output
readings, just type in 'prtdiag -v'. Here is an abbreviated example of
the output.
% prtdiag -v

The root cause of this issue is related to the thermal diode in the CPU
chipset on board for either Sun Blade 100 or Sun Blade 150. However,
since thermal management is not a supported function on the SB100/150
no resolution is available.
Implementation:
---
| | MANDATORY (Fully Proactive)
---
---
| | CONTROLLED PROACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
---
---
| X | REACTIVE (As Required)
---
Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned issue.
There is no resolution to this reported message. Thermal management is
not a supported function on the SB100/150. Information reported from
prtdiag/prtpicl regarding CPU die temperature should not be considered
as valid, and should therefore not be used to troubleshoot system
issues.
Comments:
None.

Implementation Footnote:
i) In case of MANDATORY FINs, Sun Services will attempt to contact
all affected customers to recommend implementation of the FIN.
ii) For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Sun Services mission critical
support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN (to their
respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer.
iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Sun Services will implement the FIN as the
need arises.
