PatchId: 118407-01: ReadMe for Solaris ITU patch.
Issue Description:
With the updated release of the Sun Fire V20z server (chassis PN
380-1168), an Install-Time Update (ITU) is required for installing
Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9 OS 9/04. The ITU is not required with
the original chassis release (chassis [PN] 380-0979), and is not
required for Solaris 10 OS installation.

In order to install Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9 OS 9/04 on an
updated release of the Sun Fire V20z Server (chassis PN 380-1168),
use the Solaris OS Install-Time Update provided on floppy diskette
with each chassis or available via download from the product Web
site via the following URL:

   http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v20z/downloads.html

The ITU is not required when installing Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9
OS 9/04 on the original release of the Sun Fire V20z Server (chassis
PN 380-0979) or if using Solaris 10 OS.

The following internal documentations were provided to reference the
installation of ITU:

817-5272-12: Replacing a Sun Fire V20z or Sun Fire V40z Super CRU
                Chassis

819-1152-10: Install-Time Update for Installing Solaris 9 Operating
System (OS) on the Updated Release of the Sun Fire V20z
                Server

Network interfaces will not be correctly identified and configured when
installing Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9 OS 9/04 on a Sun Fire V20z
Chassis (chassis PN 380-1168).

The root cause is due to a Broadcom chip change, and current software
drivers on Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9 OS 9/04 do not correctly
identify and configure the network interfaces on the new chip. This
leads to the network interfaces being inoperable without the ITU.
Therefore the ITU floppy is included on each of the new V20z system so
that Solaris OS can be installed. The following verbiage can be found
on the first page of the ITU Installation Guide which accompanies the
ITU:

NOTE - This ITU is required only for the udpated release of the
Sun Fire V20z server Chassis (chassis part number [PN]
	  380-1168).

The ITU is not required when installing the Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or
Solaris 9 OS 9/04 on the original release of the Sun Fire V20z
server (chassis [PN] 380-0979) or when using Solaris 10 OS.
Implementation:
---
        | | MANDATORY (Fully Proactive)
         ---

         ---
        | | CONTROLLED PROACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
         ---

         ---
        | X | REACTIVE (As Required)
         ---
Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned issue.

Use the Solaris OS Install-Time Update provided on floppy diskette with
each chassis or available via download from the product Web site:

   http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v20z/downloads.html

If Solaris 9 OS 4/04 or Solaris 9 OS 9/04 are already installed as
standalone, (thru CD install, without the ITU), the ITU or the relevant
patch can just be applied to the running system without requiring a
re-install.

The ITU is "required" during install only if the support for network
interface is required during install. The usage of ITU is "recommended"
during install for network configuration and to avoid having to apply
the ITU or the relevant patch on an installed system.
Comments:
None.
