Notes

  1. The minimum operating system is 2.5.1 HW: 11/97 or 2.6 HW: 3/98.
    Solaris 2.5.1 is no longer available on new systems.
  2. The Operating Environment CD is required to install 2.5.1 and 2.6.
  3. The following patches are required:
    Solaris 2.5.1:  103640 and 104595
    Solaris 2.6:   105181
    Solaris 7:   106541
    Solaris 8:   108528OBP 3.2 Version 29 is required.
  4. Mixing module speeds within a system is not supported.
  5. The E4500 requires CD-Tray EMI Kit 370-4428, option X990G.
  6. The E5500 and E6500 require Front Door EMI Kit 370-4429, option X991G.
  7. Clock Board 501-5365 supporting 5:1 and 6:1 clock ratios is required.
  8. Ethernet auto-negotiation is not supported in 2.5.1 or 2.6.

  3. Patch >=103640-28 (Solaris 2.5.1) or >=105181-14 (Solaris 2.6) is required.
  4. Mixing module speeds within a system is supported.
  5. A minimum of one processor per System Board is required.
  6. Set the clock to 5:2 with:
    sys_clock -p five-to-two -s -i 93000000
    Caution: Using sys_clock with command line options can crash a running system.

Compatibility Notes

  1. Control Board 501-5494 is required for a 5:2 clock.
  2. Control Boards 501-4345 and 501-4839 do not support a 5:2 clock.
  3. System Boards 501-5240, 501-5278, 501-5279, and 501-5693 are compatible with the 466MHz UltraSPARC module.
  4. System Boards 501-4347, 501-4786, and 501-4903 are not compatible with the 466MHz UltraSPARC module.
