PCI Bus A shares the address/data bus with the FC-AL device. PCI Bus B shares the address/data bus with on-board Audio, Ethernet, Flash, Floppy, IEEE 1394, Parallel, SCSI, Serial, and USB devices.

Notes

  1. The minimum Sun Blade 1000 operating system is Solaris 8 10/00.
  2. The minimum Sun Blade 2000 operating system is Solaris 8 2/02.
  3. The minimum Sun Fire 280R operating system is Solaris 8 1/01.
  4. The minimum Netra 20 operating system is Solaris 8 4/01.
  5. The system will not boot without a CPU module in Slot 0.
    If only one CPU module is installed, it must be in Slot 0, and Slot 1 should be covered with a CPU Shroud Cover.
  6. The minimum memory requirement is four DIMMs in any group.
  7. Each group addresses 4GB memory.

Compatibility Notes

  1. Sun Fire 280R is not compatible with 501-4143.
  2. Netra 20 was not tested with 501-4143.
  3. Netra 20 requires OBP 4.2 Version 4 and FIRE-I V1.2 (U2107).
  4. Netra 20 comes up as a Netra T4 with OBP 4.2 Version 4.
  5. Sun Blade 2000 is identified as Sun Blade 1000 with OBP 4.5v10.
  6. OBP 4.2v4 and FIRE-I V1.2 are on 501-5938-07 and 501-6230-01.
  7. SCHIZO 2.4 is installed on 187 501-6230-07 boards labeled DEV 24943.
  8. The Sun Fire 280R and Netra 20 are not compatible with 501-6230-07
    (approximate ship dates = October 2002 to mid-February 2003).
  9. GigaSwift Ethernet <=501-5902-07 installed on 501-6230-07 requires Solaris 8 Patch >=111883-12 or Solaris 9 Patch >=112817-04.

OBP Notes

  1. The PROM contains Sun Blade 1000 and Sun Fire 280R OBP images.
  2. Sun Fire 280R and Netra 20 share the same OBP image.
  3. Sun Fire 280R requires a Remote System Control (RSC).
  4. Sun Fire 280R OBP is enabled when RSC is probed.
  5. Sun Blade 1000 OBP is enabled when RSC or Alarm are not probed.
  6. Netra 20 requires an Alarm Module and a System Configuration Card.
  7. Netra 20 uses the System Configuration Card MAC address and Hostid.
  8. Netra 20 Power Distribution Board includes an lm80 device.
  9. Netra 20 probes for SCCR, lm80, then Alarm during power-up.

System Board 501-6560 Notes

  1. The 501-6560-02 was released in June 2003.
  2. The 501-6560-02 and -03 were not structured to any system Bill Of Material.
  3. The 501-6560-04 replaced 501-6230-12 in the Sun Blade 2000, Sun Fire 280R, and Netra 20 in December 2003. Refer to ECO WO_28087.
  4. Systems labeled with deviation label WO_28321, WO_28444, WO_28557, WO_28991 or WO_28993 shipped with System Board 501-6230 after December 2003.
  5. The 501-6560-05 uses ELE 1.1+ as the primary PCI-UPA Bridge component.
  6. The 501-6560-05 uses SCHIZO 2.5 as the alternate PCI-UPA Bridge component.
  7. Boards with deviation label WO_28227 were built with FAB 270-6560-01.
  8. The 501-6560-05 includes the 501-6230-11, -12, and -13 changes.

System Board 501-6768 Notes

  1. The 501-6768-02 was released in August 2004. (ECO WO_28833)
  2. The 501-6768-02 was not released as a FRU.
  3. Sun Blade 2000, Sun Fire 280R, and Netra 20 systems with deviation label WO_29719 shipped with System Board 501-6768 in August and September 2004.

UltraSPARC III Notes

  1. Mixing UltraSPARC III speeds in the Sun Blade 1000 is supported.
  2. Use torque tool 340-6091 or 340-6395 to install the UltraSPARC III.
    Both are calibrated to 5.0 +/- 0.5 in/lbs (.565 Nm).
  3. The Sun Blade 1000/2000, Sun Fire 280R, and Netra 20 systems include a torque tool.

UltraSPARC III Cu Notes

  1. Mixing UltraSPARC III Cu module speeds is not supported.
  2. Mixing UltraSPARC III and UltraSPARC III Cu modules is not supported.
  3. The 900MHz UltraSPARC III Cu requires OBP >=4.4 version 6.
  4. Support for 1GHz processors is in OBP 4.5 Version 10.
  5. The minimum recommended OBP for 1015/1050MHz is 4.5 Version 16.
