Characteristics for this array include:
  • Dual RAID controllers
    • 4GB of battery-backed cache
    • Four or Eight 8 Gb/s FC host connections per controller
  • Five to sixteen hard disk drives per tray
  • Supports RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 6 (p + q) and 10
  • Rack mountable
  • Small 3 RU chassis
Capacity
Up to 16 Disk drives per array
146.8GB Disk drives 16 x 146.8 = 2.3488TB
300GB Disk drives 16 x 300 = 4.8TB
450GB Disk drives 16 x 450 = 7.2TB
500GB Disk drives 16 x 500 = 8.0TB
1TB Disk drives 16 x 1 = 16.0TB
Total capacity depends on the following:
  • Number of expansion trays added to a controller tray
  • Up to three CSM200 expansion trays can be added to a controller tray (with 4GB cache and 4 Host Ports)
  • Up to six CSM200 expansion trays can be added to a controller tray (with 4GB cache and 8 Host Ports)
  • A controller tray and six expansion trays provide 112 disk drives (7 trays x 16 disk drives)
  • Example of available storage:
    • 300GB FC disk drives - total raw capacity = 33.6TB (112 x 300GB)
    • Sixteen 300GB FC drives in controller tray and ninety-six 500GB SATA drives in expansion trays - total raw capacity = 52.8TB (16 x 300GB + 96 x 500GB)
Note 1: Total raw capacity decreases depending on RAID level and number of spares used within each array configuration.

Note 2: The array configuration supports up to 15 global hot spare drives; each spare can be used for any disk in the array configuration.
