    Management Environment
The Sun Blade Modular Systems have a tiered system management architecture that allows management at either the chassis level or the Server Module level.
Common System Management for both the Chassis and the Server Module
    • Integrated Lights Out Management (ILOM) 1.1 with RKVMS (Remote Keyboard Video Mouse) is pre-installed on the CMM (Chassis Monitoring Module) and the SP (Service Processor). ILOM will run on standby power. Note: Accessing ILOM through Mozilla will require Mozilla version 1.7.5 or greater.
    • Support for Sun N1 System Manager 1.3.1.
    • Compatibility for third-party SNMP system managers with requirements for SNMP (v1, v2C, v3) and IPMI (2.0).
    • System management is consistent with Sun Fire X4100 and Sun Fire X4200 servers.
Sun Blade Server Module Service Processor (SP)
    • Server Module management (ILOM) can be accessed directly via the dedicated DB-9 serial port located on the front of the Server Module or via the CMM.
    • Each Server Module includes an on-board (separately powered) SP that communicates with the four main processors and the rest of the Server Modules.
    • Server Module management is available even when Server Module is powered off but the Chassis is powered on.
    Standard Integrated Interfaces
Network Management The Server Module provides a DB-9 serial port. Reference the Management Environment section.
PCI Interfaces with the Sun Blade 8000 Modular System In the Sun Blade 8000 Modular System, six PCI Express interfaces per Server Module are allocated to either:
    • Two I/O PCI Express ExpressModules (EMs)
      or
    • Four Network Express Modules (NEMs)
The Server Module currently creates 40 lanes allocated as follows:
    • 8 lanes/32Gbps allocated to each of the two EMs (16 lanes).
    • 8 lane/32Gbps allocated to each of the upper two NEMs (16 lanes).
    • 4 lane/16Gbps allocated to each of the lower two NEMs (8 lanes).
PCI Interfaces with the Sun Blade 8000 P Modular System In the Sun Blade 8000 P Modular System, two PCIe x8 lanes to the upper NEMs are supported.
USB Each optional X8420 Server Module provides two USB 2.0 ports.
Video Each optional X8420 Server Module provides a VGA Video connection to the ATI Rage XL graphics chip.
