    | Rack
      Mounting |

    | Fits into a standard 19-inch-wide rack mount kit that complies with EIA-310-D-1992
standard, or a 72-inch height Sun StorEdge rack, which will support seven
Sun Fire V480 servers. A 72-inch Sun StorEdge rack can physically hold up to seven Sun Fire
V480 servers (with a power sequencer there are 36 rack units of usable
space and the Sun Fire V480 is 5 rack units high). A Sun Fire V480 with
a four-way standard configuration running Sun Virtual Test Suite (VTS)
may vary from 750 Watts to 900 Watts depending on the PCI cards installed.
The power sequencer in the StorEdge rack provides ~5400 W. So, a Sun StorEdge rack can support seven Sun Fire V480 servers if they
are not fully loaded (if the configurations are only two-way or the PCI
slots are not fully populated on a four-way configuration). However, a
Sun StorEdge rack can support only six Sun Fire V480 servers if they are
fully loaded (four-way configurations and/or full PCI slots) and running
a typical workload, like Sun VTS. |
