Symptoms

There was a problem early on in manufacturing where the operators were
damaging components on the underside of the MB's as they inserted them
into the chassis'. There are standoffs in the chassis that the MB
attaches to - and these  were hitting some of the components on insertion.

Part numbers affected:
Galaxy 1 Motherboard - P/N 501-7261-02 (Does not affect -03 boards)
Galaxy 2 Motherboard - P/N 501-6974-06 (Does not affect -07 boards)

Workaround

WORKAROUND:

Field Engineers need to take extra caution when removing/installing the
motherboards.

Below are specific tests FEs can perform AFTER the motherboard has been
replaced to verify that they have not damaged the board on installation.

1.Turn on power using power on/off switch. If either R949 or R954
were damaged, system won't turn on.

2.Listen to the spinning noises of the fans right after the power is
on. If the noise level is low, R828 was damaged or missing.

3. Open the fan door and check the fan LED at location FT1/FM2 (2nd
row, right hand side) This fan LED will be on and the front panel
fault LED will be on, if F4 is missing or damaged.

Resolution

RESOLUTION:

The motherboards are being redesigned.  In the interim, please follow the "workaround" instructions.
