PreviouslyPublishedAs 200077 Product Sun StorageTek T3+ Array Sun StorageTek 6120 Array Sun StorageTek 6320 System Sun StorageTek 6920 System Bug Id <SUNBUG: 6455175>, <SUNBUG: 6366175>, <SUNBUG: 6359654>, <SUNBUG: 6276050>, <SUNBUG: 6344256>, <SUNBUG: 5107602>, <SUNBUG: 6521338> Impact If a system is under the "Minimum Supported release": * The Services organization will provide break fix support and will work to ensure recovery from all issues that occur. If Services is unable to properly recover a system, we will engage PDE for assistance. But ONLY for recovery purposes. * Services and PDE will provide full support for all upgrade events. * PDE will not be engaged to perform RCA. PTS will provide a Best Effort RCA. * Neither Service nor PDE will write and submit bugs against releases below the Minimum Supported release. The Minimum Support Releases are: T3B: 3.2.2 6120: 3.2.2 Array firmware 3.2.2 for the T3B and 6120 provides many specific bug fixes. However, the major improvements are: * Online disk firmware upgrades * New drive firmware for Seagate Spindle Motor Issues * Major enhancements to BEFIT * Improvements to the Scrubber 6320: 1.3 6320 MIRE release 1.3 is the first MIRE build that supports the 3.2.x stream. Therefore, same as T3B/6120 above. 6920 No Remote Replication: 3.0.1.22 The 6920 minimum release of 3.0.1.22 is driven by critical DSP fixes contained in 02.02.01.189 as well as Storade fixes. The array firmware is 3.2.5 which provides additional Back End Fault functionalities over the 3.2.2 release. These are necessary to accommodate DSP/Array interoperability issues. 6920 W/ Remote Replication: 3.0.1.26 3.0.1.26 provides a fix for Bug ID 6521338. Which has potential to result in the Secondary volume being corrupt. Therefore, customers running Remote Replication need to be at 3.0.1.26 6920 W/ External 6140 arrays: 3.0.1.26 3.0.1.26 provides support for externally attached CSM200s (6140 arrays). Therefore, customers who wish to use externally attached 6140s need to be running 3.0.1
Symptoms System running below the minimum supported revisions are subjected to reduced reliability and reduced diagnostic capabilities that could result in loss of access and/or longer time to recover.
Resolution Upgrade to at least the Minimum support revision. Preferably the latest revision. When upgrading from very old releases that are below the minimum support release, care must be taken to ensure all caveats and pre-requisites are accounted for. Typically, QA only tests and Release Notes are only written to account for 2 releases back. Comments The following InfoDocs should also be reviewed;
