Symptoms

The Sun Java Workstation W2100z and W1100z may experience a Rear Fan fault when the "System Cooling" parameter is set to "Normal" in BIOS R01B3S1 and BIOS R01B4S0.

Resolution

To confirm this is a fan fault in your Sun Java Workstation W2100z and W1100z you must reset the "System Cooling" parameter to its default setting of "Aggressive". If you still experience a failure in your system then the latest BIOS R01B4S2 should be used prior to fan replacement.
