Impact

High Capacity Cache and Shared Memory available through Matrix for both upgrade and new system orders. For more information please refer to StorFlash:

There are pre-requisite microcode and hardware which must be installed to allow these higher capacity components to be utilized.

For CACHE:

  • High Capacity Cache PCBs (DKC-F510I-CX1GR) and 1GB DIMMs (DKC-F510I-C8GR) will allow doubling of the cache capacity in the TagmaStore USP SE9990 (256GB) and NSC55 SE9985 (64GB)
  • The high capacity DIMMs can only be installed into new high capacity PCBs on the USP while the NSC main board supports both the standard and High Capacity Cache DIMMs
  • The standard capacity (512MB) DIMMs can be installed into either the standard or high capacity Cache PCB
  • Eventually the new PCBs will replace all Cache PCBs Spares as they are downward compatible
  • Please ensure that you order the correct PCBs and DIMMs for replacements and product orders
  • Note that the intermixing of 4GB Cache Memory features and 8GB Cache Memory features within USP SE9990 and NSC55 SE9985 systems is NOT supported

Installation/upgrade restrictions for each TagmaStore model (USP100, USP600, USP1100, NSC55) are listed below:

Universal Storage Platform SE9990:

  • The new DKC-F510I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory feature may be included only in system/upgrade configurations of 128GB and greater

Model SE9990 USP100

  • The new 8GB Cache Memory and 2GB Shared Memory features may not be configured in a model USP100
  • The maximum cache capacity of this system remains 64GB and is achieved using the existing DKC-F510I-C4G.P 4GB

Cache Memory feature

  • The maximum Shared Memory capacity remains 6GB

Model SE9990 USP600

  • Systems configured with only the basic cache memory board (DKC-F510I-CX1GR.P) must be configured with sixteen (16) DKC-F510I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory features for a total of 128GB of cache memory
  • Systems configured with both the basic and additional cache memory boards (DKC-F510I-CX1GR.P) may be configured with up to thirty-two (32) DKC-F510I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory features for a total of 256GB of cache memory
  • The maximum Shared Memory doubles to 12GB

Model SE9990 USP1100

  • By default, USP1100 systems are configured with both the basic and additional cache memory boards (DKC-F510I-CX1GR.P) thus it may be configured with up to thirty-two (32) DKC-F510I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory features for a total of 256GB of cache memory
  • The maximum Shared Memory doubles to 12GB

Model SE9985 (NSC55):

  • The new DKC-F515I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory feature may be included only in system/upgrade configurations of 32GB and greater
  • The NSC55 can be configured with minimum of four (4) and a maximum of eight (8) DKC-F515I-C8GR.P 8GB Cache Memory features resulting in systems of 32GB to 64GB of cache memory
  • The maximum Shared Memory capacity remains 6GB

For SHARED MEMORY

  • High Capacity Shared Memory PCBs (DKC-F510I-SX1GR) and 1GB DIMMs (DKC-F510I-S2GR) will allow doubling of Shared Memory capacity in the TagmaStore USP for a maximum of 24GB
  • Note that the NSC55 can use the new SM modules but the maximum capacity will remain at 6GB
  • The high capacity DIMMs can only be installed into the high capacity PCBs on the USP, while either DIMM may be installed into the existing NSC55 board
  • The current capacity (512MB) DIMMs can be installed into either the current or high capacity Shared Memory PCB
  • Eventually the new PCBs will replace all Shared Memory PCBs Spares as they are downward compatible
  • Please ensure that you order the correct PCBs and DIMMs for replacements and product orders

NEW FEATURE/FUNCTION:

DKCMAIN 50-05-06-00/00 (or higher) is required on SE9990 USP and SE9985 NSC55 to support the following features:

  • DKC-F510I-C8GR.P - 8GB Cache Memory module
  • DKC-F510I-CX1GR.P - Cache Data Path Expansion Kit
  • DKC-F510I-S2GR.P - 2GB Shared Memory module
  • DKC-F510I-SX1GR.P - Shared Memory Path Expansion Kit
  • DKC-F515I-C8GR.P - 8GB Cache Memory module **1 (The maintenance manual will show this as DKC-510I-C8GR)
  • DKC-F515I-S2GR.P - 2GB Shared Memory module **1 (The maintenance manual will show this as DKC-510I-S2GR)
