Impact Interposer Cards being damaged at the repair depot result in rework and material cost, and additional handling. Contributing Factors The following Platforms are impacted: StorageTek 5220 NAS StorageTek 5320 NAS StorageTek 6140 StorageTek 6540 The following Options are impacted: XRB-ST1CE-500G7K XTC-ST1CF-750G7KZ Loose drive bracket screws allow the sheet metal to bow enough for the interposer card retention tabs to disengage allowing the interposer to separate from the main drive upon removal from the drive slot or test fixture. Symptoms Interposer card will physically separate from the drive assembly upon removal from drive slot. Root Cause The SATA drive bracket screws appear to be loosened in the field after removal from the system drive slots. An inspection step has been added at the vendor to verify the drive bracket screws are not loose. Resolution Field service should not manipulate the SATA drive assembly screws during the drive field replacement and return process for the ST6x40 drives. Standard drive removal/replacement procedures should be followed as referenced in Knowledge Article 1000958.1; https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1000958.1 Identification of Affected Parts (how to): Loose bracket screws can be visually identified. Previously Published As 103049 Internal Comments No indications that this failure mode has occurred in manufacturing or at any customer site. Failure appears to be isolated post-field replacement between field service and repair depot testing.
