Impact An application error, a system slow down, or a system down may occur as a result of accumulated memory leak in HDLM for Windows running MSCS or VSFW. The total memory leak is approximately 1.25 KB per minute, or 1.8 MB per day. Symptoms This issue can affect the following environments: Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 hosts running HDLM for Window 5.5.0-00 and either Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) or Veritas Storage Foundation 4.1 (VSFW). Root Cause This issue was cause by a program bug in HDLM for Windows. When HDLM converts normal SCSI-2 reservations to SCSI-3 persistent reservations in a cluster environment, it does not free up memory after completion of each conversion. Workaround For immediate remediation of this issue is to reboot the node that held the cluster resource. However, this issue is resolved in HDLM 5.5.0-01 and higher. Related Information
