PreviouslyPublishedAs 201549 Product Sun XVR-100 Graphics Accelerator Bug Id <SUNBUG: 6507607> Date of Resolved Release 25-MAY-2007 Part
Impact Display (screen or monitor) looks blurry or fuzzy when using analog resolutions above 800x600 on either the HD15 (VGA) or DVI-I (analog) video ports. Video quality is worse on the DVI port. Contributing Factors This issue can occur on systems with the Sun XVR-100 Graphics Accelerator (Sun p/n 375-3290-01), AND when using analog resolutions above 800x600. During the second half of calendar year 2006 affected XVR-100 X-option units were shipped from ModusLink (US). Ultra 45 and Ultra 25 Workstations were also shipped configured with affected XVR-100 cards from Synnex (UK). This was corrected after January of 2007. Symptoms Display (screen or monitor) looks blurry or fuzzy when using analog resolutions above 800x600. Root Cause This issue is due to incorrect inductors manufactured on XVR-100 cards with date codes of 0630 or 0631. This issue was resolved at the supplier with XVR-100 builds after week 31 in year 2006, or approximately on August 7, 2006. Workaround Besides following the instructions in the Resolution section below, there are two workarounds to address this issue;
Resolution Replacement Time Estimate: 15 minutes Hot Swappable: No Upon failure only replace XVR-100 graphics card (Sun p/n 375-3290-01) having a serial number date code of either 0630 or 0631 with 375-3290-01 (or above) having a serial number date code other than 0630 or 0631. How to Identify Affected Units: Affected XVR-100 cards require visual inspection. "Good" parts are not likely to contain 0630 or 0631 in the XVR-100's serial number on the green label. Affected parts will have a date code of 0630 or 0631. Here is an example of an affected XVR-100 serial number: 180631 000070 found on a green label, where the 3rd through 6th digits reflect the date code. Note: This is *not* the white labeled "SunFRU SN". This is the date code on the green label. Comments This knowledge asset (FAB) was processed and planned for under FCO A0281-1. About 94% of the existing 375-3290 FRU inventory globally is known good. It is estimated that 21 suspect FRUs (with the 0630 or 0631 date code) exist in the global inventory of 325 FRUs. Due to the low cost of this FRU it would be cost prohibitive to screen the entire global inventory in order to segregate these 21 affected FRUs. It is, therefore, recommended that any FRUs being used to repair a customer system be visually screened prior to use for the 0630 or 0631 date code in the serial number. If the an affected date code is found, that FRU should be scrapped. Hardware Remediation Details This FCO will have a time zone phased release based on material readiness as follows:
The above dates represent when each time zone has determined that it will be materially ready to support this FCO. All dates are estimates. Please REVISIT THIS DOCUMENT FREQUENTLY FOR UPDATED ESTIMATES, AND check with your Logistics Representative or TZ / Country / Area FCO Manager for more information with regard to material availability and the parts ordering process for this FCO.
