There is no impact to systems not in a UPS environment. The Netra X4200 M2 and non-M2 configurations are NOT affected by this issue. All Sun Fire X4100 M2 and X4200 M2 systems with a System S/N of 0805AL991D (and above) or 0805BD1F19 (and above) are NOT affected by this issue. The first 4 digits of the serial number is the date code. AL - Manufactured in Czech Republic BD - Manufactured in Mexico SymptomsSystems that loose power and would normally fail-over to the UPS will instead go into a power off sequence and remain in a shutdown state until manually powered back on.Root CauseThe CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) was programmed incorrectly. The CPLD was programmed at 0ms recovery time and it should have been programmed to 25ms. Corrective action was implemented in manufacturing as of January 9, 2008 via ECO WO_38378, and in Services via GSAP 4209.A as of February 19, 2008 by dash rolling the above listed affected part numbers. The upgrade kit was made available via ECO WO_39338.Corrective ActionWorkaround:No workaround available - see Resolution section below. Resolution: For customers that have a UPS environment the Service Representative should... 1. Order the upgrade kit (Sun p/n 565-1963-01) This kit contains cables which will allow you to hook a laptop up to each motherboard in order to perform this upgrade. Systems will need to be powered down in order to perform the upgrade. 2. Download and follow the directions in the CPLD Upgrade Procedure document from the below URL; http://sdpsweb.central/FIN_FCO/FCO/A0293-1/SPE/CPLD_Upgrade_Procedure.pdf Note: The field service representative should prepare for this upgrade by downloading the upgrade procedure document via the above link, as well as the CPLD file and the Xilinx 9.2i ISE WebPACK Software Application (as described in the upgrade procedure document) before the planned customer site visit. Note: The kit is reusable so it is recommended that Service personnel order 1 kit and service multiple customers before returning the kit via the standard return process. The kit is not to be left with the customer and should be returned as soon as is practical to avoid any availability issues. Hardware Remediation Details: All Regions/Timezones were materially ready at the time this FAB was published. Check with your Logistics Representative or TZ / Country / Area FCO Manager for more information with regard to material availability and the parts ordering process for this FCO.
