Solution Type FAB (standard) Sure Solution 1019657.1 : HBK and PUK ordering process for SL8500 and SL3000 (with firmware levels at 3.72 or higher) and SL3000 (all firmware levels).
PreviouslyPublishedAs 243086 Product Sun StorageTek L8500 Tape Library Sun StorageTek L3000 Date of Resolved Release 03-Oct-2008 HBK and PUK ordering process for SL8500 and SL3000 (see details below). Affected Parts: 419945201 HBK card for SL8500 419877201 PUK card for SL3000 ImpactAt all firmware versions of the SL3000 and at SL8500 firmware level 3.72 (or higher) follow the procedure noted below to order the HBK and PUK card.In the unlikely event the HBK card fails, the library will continue to operate for 30 days. During this time the new card can be ordered from logistics, Library Serial Number will be required to program the HBK and PUK card. If the SL8500 is at 3.11c (or lower) Firmware the HBK card will need to be ordered via the Code A process. The unit Serial Number will also be required for the processing of the replacement HBK card at these code levels. Contributing FactorsSL8500 (with firmware levels at 3.72 (or higher) requiring an HBK card replacement, or an SL3000 (at any firmware level) requiring a PUK card replacement, follow the ordering procedure listed in this knowledge asset.SymptomsThere are two methods to detect that the HBK card has failed with code 3.72 (or higher)...1. the Service Required LED will flash on the front of the library 2. an SNMP trap will be sent every 15 minutes if enabled Example SNMP trap message; SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.1.3.0 = 208127 SNMPv2-SMI::snmpModules.1.1.4.1.0 = STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapError STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapLibrarySerialNumber = "" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceId = "HBC 660000005" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceTime = "2007-06-21T17:09:58.084" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceAddress = "1.0.0.0.0" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceUserName = "root" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceInterfaceName = "default" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceActivity = "syslogd" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceRequestId = "0" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceSeverity = "error" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceResultCode = "<N/A>" STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceFreeFormText = "<10>root: Secure Key (HBK) failed - 29 day(s), 22 hour(s) until shutdown" Root CauseUnprogrammed HBK and PUK cards from stock can not be successfully installed in the SL8500 or SL3000. The Frame serial number and associated DWWN must be preprogrammed on the HBK and PUK cards to support the DWWN feature.Corrective ActionWorkaround:No workaround available - see Resolution section below. Resolution: Order preprogramed HBK or PUK card. Ordering Process: -Record the SL8500 or SL3000 serial number (needed to program the replacement card). -Place an order with local logistics planner. -Send an email to: USRALSUNCodeAShips@flextronics.com -Include the order number in the email as a reference and the Library Serial Number.
