Solution Type FAB (standard) Sure Solution 1020157.1 : "False Empty Cells" can be reported when running an audit on SL8500 code level 4.13.
PreviouslyPublishedAs 253227 Date of Resolved Release 20-Feb-2009 Product Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System Audit issue on SL8500 code level 4.13 (see details below). ImpactAn issue with SL8500 code 4.13 was found in-house during the audit of the inside panels. This issue is with full column scans used during physical audits. Sun has not seen the issue on single cell audits. "False Empty Cells" can be reported at 4.13 code on row_1 side_2 <inside panels> only. The false empty cells could cause the library control software, ACSLS or HSC, to not properly catalog all of the cartridges inside the library or command the library to place another cartridge in this occupied location. If an attempt is made to place a cartridge in an occupied cell it will fail with a reach error. Contributing FactorsThis issue can occur when running an audit on the Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System running code level 4.13.The Full Column Scan move is from bottom to top. Failures can occur when the Proximity sensor ranges do not contain the position used to qualify the Row 1 cell. Additional contributors are: a) 9x40 Cartridge (thin barcode) b) Hard to read T10K and LTO cartridge label c) Unlabeled cartridge Symptoms"False Empty Cells" can be reported at 4.13 code on row_1 side_2 <inside panels> on row_1 only.Root CauseA problem with SL8500 code 4.13 was found in-house during the audit of the inside panels. This issue has been corrected in SL8500 code 4.14.Corrective ActionWorkaround:Manually audit, via SLC, all row_1 cells on the inner panels - select physical and verify audit. Resolution: SL8500 code 4.14 provides the following fixes; - Fixed the issue with the audit reporting false empty. - Fixed a robot motion error and cap motion error in diagnostic self-test. - Fixed a problem with adding a robot to the left which caused a rail to go off-line to HLI. - Fixed PTP and elevator reservation problems.
