Affected Parts: 540-7798 8x1GB DIMMs/2x4GB USB Flash/2xFC Host Cards/6780 RAID controller board 540-7805 4x1GB DIMMs/1x4GB USB Flash/1xFC Host Card/6780 RAID controller board 540-7806 4x1GB DIMMs/1x4GB USB Flash/1xFC Host Card/6580 RAID controller Board ImpactSun Storage 6780/6580 controllers are being split into individual FRU components, in order to facilitate the sale of upgrades and replacement of FRUs separately from the RAID controller board FRU itself.Contributing FactorsNot applicable.SymptomsNot applicable.Root CauseOriginally Services commissioned the creation of a "Super-FRU" for the base array configurations for the Sun Storage 6580/6780 products. Due to changes in the sale and marketing of the product, the strategy needed to be reworked to a component FRU strategy. The array controllers are now ordered separate from the Host Interface Cards(HIC), USB Flash, and Data Cache DIMMs. Similarly, upgrades to HIC, USB Flash, or Data Cache are performed on an individual kit basis using standard ordering. The new FRU parts are listed individually as: 371-4370 [F] 4GB USB Flash (qty=1) 371-4371 [F] 4Gbps Fibre Channel Host Card (qty=1) 371-4372 [F] 1GB DIMM (qty=4) 375-3628 [F] 6580 RAID Controller Base Board 375-3626 [F] 6780 RAID Controller Base Board The firmware shipped with the Sun Storage 6580/6780 has the messaging and alerts in place to handle the individual faults for these individual components. Additionally, Common Array Manager 6.2.0 and later have the Service Advisor procedures for replacement of the HIC, USB Flash, and Cache DIMMs listed under the "Service Only" procedures. If prompted for the password for getting these procedures at a customer site, it is "arrayservice". An online copy of the Service Advisor is located at; http://pts-storage.west.sun.com/products/CAM/SA.html These individual FRUs were released via ECOs WO_40767 and WO_39959. Corrective ActionWorkaround:No workaround available - see Resolution section below. Resolution: All affected Super-FRUs have been decommissioned at this time. Any order placed for any of the 540 level part numbers listed in the Affected Parts section above will not be serviced, and will require the specific FRU part number as listed in the Root Cause section above.
