If this happens on an ID seek, the actuator would get pulled to the latch, leading to a retry and resulting in a time out.Sun is currently purging all inventory from manufacturing (WIP, Raw Stock and in Transit), FRUs and X-options except Finished Goods. The firmware has been released and all affected Services inventory began purging per GSAP 5085 starting on January 26, 2010. Reference the GSAP via the below (internal only) URL for additional details; http://sro/prcp/gsaps/5085 Corrective ActionWorkaround:No workaround available - see Resolution section below. Resolution: Download and install the appropriate patch as outlined below if you have any of the drives mentioned above. These issues are addressed in Firmware SU0F, as delivered in patch 141469-02 (or later) for boot drives and 141468-03 (or later) for non-boot drives, for the following drives; ST32502NS (250.0GB) SATA Disk Drive ST35002NS (500.0GB) SATA Disk Drive ST37502NS (750.0GB) SATA Disk Drive ST31000NS (1.0TB) SATA Disk Drive ...and for the following platforms; Sun Fire X4500 and X4540 Sun Fire X2100 and X2100 M2 (250GB only) Sun Fire X2200 M2 (250GB only) Sun Fire X2250 (250GB only) Ultra 24 (250GB only) Sun Fire T1000 (250GB only) Sun SPARC Enterprise T1000 (250GB only) To address this issue for ST31000NS (1.0TB) drives in J4200/J4400 arrays only, the following CAMS patch is required: 142798-02 (FW update for CAM 6.5 on Solaris) 142799-02 (FW udpate for CAM 6.5 on Windows) 142799-02 (FW update for CAM 6.5 on Linux) Installation of these patches will vary for each OS, and instructions can be found in the README file of each patch. For Sun 7210, 7310 and 7410, the firmware will be SU0E, if you are on Q3.3 or later. Alternatively, drives can be inspected visually for the Sun model number (as listed in Contributing Factors section above). CommentsAlthough this is a Controlled Proactive FAB, no Customer List or Letter will be provided.You should strongly recommend the implementation of this FAB to all contracted customers that have one of these affected configurations.
