Symptoms
On several Sun Fire[TM] V210/V240/V250 system boxes equipped with Solaris[TM] 10 or Solaris[TM] 9, the ELP Config Reader module creates the following Event:
"power-supply at PS1 - Lost Comms. (Unable to find child of type: NonNumericVoltageSensorTable)"

Resolution

- If ELP Config Reader 3.6-v5 is installed:

 This is related to CR 6442226 and is fixed via a patch for ELP 3.6 Version 5.

Solaris 10 - 124698-01 , requires 119850-18 or newer (118833-XX)
Solaris 9 - 124697-01 , requires  118558-26 or newer
Solaris 8 - 124696-01 , requires 122702-02 or greater

The same fix from 6442226 was integrated into ELP 3.6 Version 6 via CR 6509313 .

KU patches and specific PICL patch, which contains the fix for CR # 6301580 , must also be installed:
Kernel patch:
Solaris 10 - requires 119850-18 or newer (18833-XX)
Solaris 9 - requires 118558-26 or newer
Solaris 8 has a specific picld patch requirement: Solaris 8 - 122702-02 or newer

Relief/Workaround
To avoid the problem, follow this workaroud. This is a workaround of the bug 6442226 .=== *Workaround* ============================================================= Workaround/Solution for pre 3.6 installs: By right clicking on the Operational Status cell for the effected Power Supply, a menu pops up. Select the Attribute Editor then the Alarms tab. Scroll down to the line that states "Alarm severity for Unknown,Lost Comms, and No Contact status values:". Change the 1 to 0(zero) and hit Apply. Now the Alarm will go away and not return until that value is changed to something other then 0. A restart of the picld help just for half an hour that the problem occurs again.

Gather the following information.
# uname -a
# prtpicl -v -c "voltage-indicator"

Because this could be a very simple configuration/dependency problem. SunMC 3.6 Version 6 and later require KU 118558-26 : (or greater).

When doing initial investigation of these types of problems always check prtpicl -v -c voltage indicator output

For example, look at the ps#_ff_pok grouping. Note whether _fru_parent: is there or not.
