Symptoms
The Sun Fire[TM] V480 system may hang at random points during a network boot/installation.

This hang may occur early in the network boot process when accessing the miniroot of the boot server or during the installation portion of the process. It is also possible that this hang may cause the system to lock up, which would then require a power cycle.

Resolution
The following solution is true when other supported platform clients (other than the V480) successfully boot and install from the Solaris[TM] 8 2/02 install image.

This problem is related to the CE ethernet interface driver on the Solaris 8 2/02 net boot image. Therefore the Solaris 8 2/02 net boot image must be patched with Patch ID: 111883-10 or later via patchadd -C.

patchadd -C <Boot-Image-Path>/Solaris _8/Tools/Boot <patch_path/patch_dir>

Example for Solaris[TM] 8

patchadd -C /Images/S8U7/Solaris _8/Tools/Boot /tmp/111883-10

After the installation is complete, apply Patch ID: 111883-10 or higher.
