Symptoms

Symptoms

You have installed a Sun StorEdge [TM] PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter (p/n 375-3057) and connected your storage device.

The system is able to see all devices when you run 'probe-scsi-all' (OBP command), however, Solaris [TM] is unable to see the disks after performing a reconfiguration boot (boot -r) or running 'devfsadm' or 'drvconfig'.

probe-scsi-all see disks but boot -r , devfsadm and drvconfig fail to add disks to OS.

This symptom can occur if the required Solaris driver is not loaded for the Sun StorEdge [TM] PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter . Solaris does not include support for this PCI adapter by default, the driver should be loaded separately (see resolution below).

Installation and Resolution Steps

Install the drivers and patches for the PCI Dual Ultra-3 SCSI Host Adapter

The drivers AND patches are available for download, from http://support.oracle.com  - see Technical Instruction Document: 1018123.1 for instructions on how to download.

Note For Solaris 10:

The necessary PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI drivers, SUNWqus and SUNWqusu are bundled with  Solaris 10 by default.   Both 32-bit and 64-bit components are included in these two packages. No additional packages are required for this OS release.
