This behavior is caused by a buffer overrun in the Emulex driver that occurs when the driver attempts to access an Emulex HBA that is not properly initialized. The exact nature of the bug depends on the timing of the initialization of the I/O subsystem. This means that some systems may exhibit slightly different symptoms (for instance, BAD TRAP: type=34: alignment error panics), or may not be affected by this issue. Resolution Upgrading the Emulex lpfc driver to a minimum of 5.00i will resolve this issue. Customers encountering this problem have successfully tested lpfc version 5.01d, and 5.00i resolves the problem on lab systems.
