Symptoms
A system that relies on a serial Console (having no Sun[TM] keyboard attached),
hangs during the boot process.

Resolution
One reason might be the Data Carrier Detect (DCD = Pin 8) is not disabled in
the OpenBoot PROM (OBP) and it is waiting for DCD to become "active".
This will happen for instance if you try to run a system without a Sun keyboard or you are using the recommended 3-wire serial cable (Tx,Rx,Gnd) from Sun to connect your system to a Console (tip session), and the OBP "ignore DCD" parameter is not activated..
To correct this, in the OBP set the following parameters back to their
default settings:
setenv ttyb-ignore-cd true
setenv ttya-ignore-cd true

Additional Information
For a more detailed discussion of OBP settings and their interaction with a
serial console at boot time.
