Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1011057.1 : In a SAN environment, host connectivity led on the raid controller incorrectly glows amber intermittently when the Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120 array or san switch is power cycled
PreviouslyPublishedAs 215223 Symptoms In some cases, when the Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120 array is power cycled or when the san switch connected to the 6120 controller is reset, the fibre channel link led on the controller comes up with amber light. There will be no problem in the controller/frus and once the array comes up, the luns will be accessible by both controllers. Fru stat returns healthy status for both the controllers as below: fru stat CTLR STATUS STATE ROLE PARTNER TEMP ------ ------- ---------- ---------- ------- ---- u1ctr ready enabled master u2ctr 31 u2ctr ready enabled alt master u1ctr 30 port status also shows both the ports are online. port list port targetid addr_type status host wwn u1p1 1 hard online sun 20030003ba68ec17 u2p1 2 hard online sun 20030003ba68ebd4 PSPDSK01 port listmap shows proper ownership for both the controllers. port listmap port targetid addr_type lun volume owner access u1p1 1 hard 0 T01R5V01 u1 primary u1p1 1 hard 1 T01R5V01 u1 primary u1p1 1 hard 4 T01R1V01 u1 primary u1p1 1 hard 5 T01R1V01 u1 primary u1p1 1 hard 2 T01R5V02 u2 failover u1p1 1 hard 3 T01R5V02 u2 failover u1p1 1 hard 6 T01R1V02 u2 failover u1p1 1 hard 7 T01R1V02 u2 failover u2p1 2 hard 0 T01R5V01 u1 failover u2p1 2 hard 1 T01R5V01 u1 failover u2p1 2 hard 4 T01R1V01 u1 failover u2p1 2 hard 5 T01R1V01 u1 failover u2p1 2 hard 2 T01R5V02 u2 primary u2p1 2 hard 3 T01R5V02 u2 primary u2p1 2 hard 6 T01R1V02 u2 primary u2p1 2 hard 7 T01R1V02 u2 primary PSPDSK01 All these outputs indicate there is as such no problem in the controller. Resolution This problem has been intermittently observed in 6120 partner pair configurations attached to SAN. This problem is not observed if the controllers are directly connected to the hosts. This can be rectified for the moment by disabling the controller with amber light, pulling out and re seating the controller. Another method which has been to work fine is to force the fc_topology mode to fabric_p2p as below: sys fc_topology fabric_p2p. After setting this parameter, the LED status is consistently green on resetting the controller or the san switch.
