Symptoms
The installation instructions and procedures for the Sun StorEdge[TM] 6000 Family Host Software (SSCS) are somewhat misleading.
The guide does not mention any specific patches that are required for the software, but there ARE a few critical patches that are not included with the recommended.cluster or downloaded when you obtain the packages from Sun's website.  Patch ID 112945-05 is required on Solaris[TM] 9 for the Configuration Service software, but if the patch is not present, the script exits with a message that doesn't clearly indicate there was a problem.  Upon further research, the log file created in /var/sadm/install/se6x20/ DOES give the following message:

2003/07/29 19:38:53: install: ERROR: patch 112945-05 failed - 112945-05
(addPatches)
Installing Sun StorEdge[tm] 6120/6320 Remote Configuration CLI (SSCS)
.
.
         ..... Bye!!

Unfortunately, even THIS message doesn't clearly state whether the package
installation failed, if the script tried to install the patch, or if things
still completed

Resolution
The aforementioned error message indeed does indicate that the package preinstall script failed to detect a critical patch, and the script exits. This will leave the management host in a partially-installed state. Most of the binaries will be located in /opt, but Tomcat services aren't running, and the management host is not responding on typical ports: 9443 and 9080 by default for SE6x00 Configuration Services.
Installation of the patch, and running the install.sh script again will alleviate the problem, and allow the package installation to finish.

Relief/Workaround
None available -- Patch 112945-05 is required for WBEM services to run
properly on Solaris 9, which SSCS works closely with
