Symptoms

After completing POST the system will not autoboot and remains at the OK> prompt. The following warning message is displayed:

WARNING: Using Debug SEEPROM for CPU x Disabling auto-boot

Note:  "auto-boot-on-error" by default is set to false

Workaround

To proceed with the bootup process type "boot" at the OK> prompt.

Additionally, "auto-boot-on-error" can be set to true as shown below:

   ok> setenv auto-boot-on-error? true

However, this will cause the system to Autoboot on valid errors.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following platforms:

  • Sun Fire V440 server with CPU module: 501-6788-08 and CPU FRUID: 885-0240-08 rev 51
  • Sun Fire V440 server with CPU module: 501-7461-03 and CPU FRUID: 885-0594-03 rev 51

In addition, the below dash levels were not impacted and therefore can also be used to address this issue:

  • Sun Fire V440 server with CPU module: 501-6788-07 and CPU FRUID: 885-0240-07 rev 50
  • Sun Fire V440 server with CPU module: 501-6788-06 and CPU FRUID: 885-0240-06 rev 50
  • Sun Fire V440 server with CPU module: 501-7461-02 and CPU FRUID: 885-0594-02 rev 50

Internal Comments
-

The removed CPU(s) can have the FRUID reworked according to ECO WO_33190.  The customer needs to verify they do have one of the affected 143 systems.  Follow normal part replacement procedures.
