Bug Id
<SUNBUG: 4944763>

Date of Resolved Release
23-JUL-2004

Impact

Setting the timezone and then exiting a login session on the Sun StorEdge 6120 or Sun StorEdge T3+ with firmware revision 3.0.6, 3.0.7 or 3.1.2 may disable the U1 controller. This issue may also be encountered with Sun StorEdge "set" and "sys" commands. On certain occasions, this condition could also lead to data integrity issues.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun StorEdge 6120 Array without firmware 3.1.4 (as delivered with patch 115179-11)
  • Sun StorEdge T3+ Array without firmware 3.1.4 (as delivered with patch 115180-05)

The Sun StorEdge command "ver" at a 6120 or T3+ prompt will indicate the current firmware revision, as in the following example:

    6120a:/:<1>ver
6120 Release 3.1.2 Fri Dec 19 14:49:54 PST 2003 (129.156.169.50)

Symptoms

Should the described issue occur, messages similar to the following are logged to "/var/adm/messages.t3" or the "/var/adm/messages.6120" file if remote logging is set up. If remote logging is not set up, the following messages will be written to the "syslog" file on the SE6120 or T3B:
