In this Document
Applies to:Sun Blade X6250 Server Module - Version: Not ApplicableSPARC x86 _______________ _______________ Date of Resolved Release: 18-Nov-2010 ________________________________ DescriptionHot-swap of a Power Supply Unit (PSU) on the Sun Blade 6000/6048 chassis with Sun Blade X6250 server(s) present may cause motherboard damage to one or more X6250 servers simultaneously, and the blades will no longer power on. As a result, blade replacement may be required. Likelihood of OccurrenceThis issue can occur on the following platform:
Note: This issue only affects the Sun X6250 blades in the Sun Blade 6000/6048 chassis. Possible SymptomsIf a PSU in the Sun Blade 6000/6048 chassis is hot-swapped while powered on, the ECB circuit on the X6250 blade motherboard may be damaged due to a voltage spike. This will cause the blade to become unusable, and the blade will not power on. Workaround or ResolutionTo avoid occurrence of this issue, either: A) completely remove any X6250 blades from the 6000/6048 chassis before hot-swapping a PSU on the chassis or B) power down the whole chassis before replacing a PSU, even in a redundant power configuration scenario.
