PreviouslyPublishedAs 204397 Description Power Supply Configuration Information for the Sun Enterprise[TM] 220R/420R Steps to Follow The Sun Enterprise[TM] 220R and 420R can accommodate one or two power supplies. Each power supply provides up to 380 watts. All system configurations will operate with only one power supply installed. The second power supply will provide redundancy, allowing the system to continue operating should one of the power supplies fail. It is recommended to have each AC input connected to a different circuit for redundancy. Please NOTE that the 2nd power supply is an option. Please note that if there are two power supplies installed and only one AC line connected to only one of the powers supplies. You will get a FAULT Light on the front of the server. You should connect the second AC line to the second power supply to elimnate the Fault light. 220R and 420R systems are not equipped with environmental monitoring circuitry to detect power supply unit (PSU) or fan failures, including changes in keyswitch position. Hardware safeguards have been built into the system to automatically shutdown if it becomes too hot. If redundant power available, the only way to determine if a PSU has failed is to visually examine the fault LED at the front of the chassis or on the power-supply itself. No messages will be logged to /var/adm/messages file, and prtdiag -v does not report PSU status.
