Description
On occasion, the error 'NetShareGetInfo: level 501 not supported' may be seen in the system log files of the Sun StorEdge[TM] 5210/5310 NAS Appliance or Sun StorageTek[TM] 5320.

Steps to Follow

The 'NetShareGetInfo: level 501 not supported' error messages will be generated when the Windows administrator attemtps to apply Share Level Security using the Microsoft Management Console to any share or shares published by the NAS  head to the Windows environment.  The administrator will receive an 'Access Denied' error message when attempting to save the modifications made to the 'Share Level Security' settings of the share.  At the time the user receives the 'Access Denied' message, the NAS head will log the 'NetShareGetInfo: level 501 not supported' error message.
The reason for these errors is that currently NAS operating systems 4.20 and below do not support 'Share Level Security'  Two alternative methods of applying security are to use 'File Level Security' at the Windows side or configure hostgroups on the NAS head and set up the approve file to either allow or deny access to the share or shares.
