Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1006502.1 : Red Hat boot error: hda: IRQ probe failed or no response (status = 0x0a)
PreviouslyPublishedAs 209100 Description During install of Red Hat RHEL3 WS U4, you may notice a slight delay during boot, or see the following repeated warnings during bootup: hda: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8) After a short delay, the system continues to boot and the system functions normally. Steps to Follow This issue is only seen on K2.5 motherboards (380-1194). This issue is not seen on K1 or K2 mother boards. You can check remotely for a K2.5 motherboard using the following SP command inventory get hardware and look at the "motherboard" line. It will contain S02595 or S02615. The workaround is to disable the Primary IDE controller in the BIOS. 1. Boot the system. The system will reboot and you should no longer see the warning or the delay.
