Description
Sun StorageTek[TM] SL8500 Modular Library System, Elevator Disable Problem with 7XX level HBB cards while using Service Safety Door.
A problem exists with the HBZ module on the SL8500 in conjunction with using the Service Safety Door(SSD) when entering service mode.

Steps to Follow
Elevator Disable Problem with 7XX level HBB cards while using SSD.
A problem exists with the HBZ module on the SL8500 in conjunction with using the Service Safety Door(SSD). When entering service mode using the SSD, with service door moved to the right, the right elevator should get disabled. If there is a 7XX level HBB card (3137727xx) in the HBZ module, pn 313926502 the wrong elevator(left) assembly gets disabled. This will keep customers from being able to do rail to rail moves while in service mode. The manufacturing start date for 7XX level HBB boards in the HBZ module was 9/14/2005 Serial number break-in was HBZ8502000138.

Only HBZ modules built after this date on units with SSD installed will have any issue. There is a field bill forthcoming to repair all modules.
The field bill 103744 will be used to replace all 7XX level HBB boards with a new board type labeled HBBZ pn 314538201 in HBZ modules shipped after 9/14/2005. The field bill should be available by 12/22/2005. We are strongly urging field to wait for FB availability to repair this condition.

Units shipped after the EC will be relabeled with the fru level rolled 313926503.

Steps by step:

 * Manufacturing date on HBZ module, posted on the FRU label of module - before 9/14/05, not affected.
 * Modules with the part number 313926501 - not affected.
 * Modules with serial numbers prior to HBZ8502000138 - not affected.
 * Modules with part number 313926502, manufacturing date after 9/14/05, serial number beyond HBZ8502000138 - order field bill 103744.
