Description
This explains how to set the boot device for the Sun Fire[TM] v20z and the Sun Fire[TM] v40z from the BIOS.



Steps to Follow
On either a monitor and keyboard or from the Service processer get to the BIOS by hitting (Esc 2).

You will enter the main BIOS screen. The top row shows the tabs Main Advanced Security Power Boot Exit.

Use the arrow keys the highlight Boot. This will show devices that might be booted from. The list is in the boot order. The top device is the device the system will try to boot off first and then on down the list.

Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight a device you want. To move the device up the list use Shift + to move a device down the list Shift -.

Boot device choices are:

  • Hard Drive
  • CDRom Drive
  • Network Boot
  • Removable Device
  • MBA V7.0.1 Slot 0210
  • MBA V7.0.1 Slot 0218

Once the device you want is at the top of the list. Use the right arrow key to highlight the exit tab. The down arrow key to highlight Exit Saving changes. If you are on a keyboard you can also use the F10 key to Save and Exit.

The BIOS will ask if you want to save the changes. Select yes.
