Description
The Sun Fire [TM] T1000 server is shipped with a pre-loaded Solaris[TM] 10 Operating System that has all the required patches pre-installed. Without these mandatory patches applied, the T1000 server may generate "false" errors or experience other known (undesirable) symptoms or issues.

Note: If the Solaris OS is re-loaded, then manual re-installation of the patches will be required for proper T1000 functionality.

Steps to Follow
Exactly which patches and / or etc/system changes are required is determined by two factors:
1. The T1000 motherboard's Hardware Dash Level

2. The Solaris 10 OS version

To determine the T1000 motherboard's Hardware Dash Level:

Log into the T1000 System Controller and issue the showfru -s mb command to obtain the Hardware Dash Level.

To do so:

1. Access the T1000 system controller

2. At the Sun Fire T1000 console, type #. (Pound Period) to access the sc> prompt

3. Issue the showfru command as follows:  sc> showfru -s mb

4. Note the HW Dash Level entry (01 in example below)

(For more information regarding accessing the T1000 System Controller environment, reference <Document: 1009721.1> : Establishing a connection to Sun Fire [TM] T1000 or T2000 System Controller )

Example:

sc> showfru -s mb
SEGMENT: SD
/ManR
/ManR/UNIX_Timestamp32: WED DEC 07 19:18:09 2005
/ManR/Description: ASSY,Sun-Fire-T1000,Motherboard
/ManR/Manufacture Location: Sriracha,Chonburi,Thailand
/ManR/Sun Part No: 5017302
/ManR/Sun Serial No: 00000J
/ManR/Vendor: Celestica

/ManR/Initial HW Dash Level
: 01

To verify the Solaris 10 Operating System version:

Display via the Solaris cat /etc/release command.

Example:

# cat /etc/release

Solaris 10 6/06
 s10s_u2wos_09a SPARC

Assembled 09 June 2006

Once these two factors are determined, please reference the most current version of Sun Fire T1000 Server Product Notes to determine exactly which patches are required for that circumstance. (See the section titled  Notes for Servers With Hardware Dash Level... )

To determine whether the required patches are already installed:

Using the showrev command, type the following: # showrev -p | grep "Patch: xxxxxx" (where xxxxxx is the six digit patch number)

If you see patch information listed for the queried patch, and the dash extension (the last two digits) matches or exceeds the required version, your system already has the required patches installed.

If you do not see patch information listed for the queried patch, or if the dash extension precedes the required version, you must download and then install the needed patch.

Patches may be downloaded from the SunSolve Patch Page.

Specify the base Patch ID number (the first six digits) to access the most current release of a patch and be sure to follow the installation instructions provided with the patch.
