Description
This document provides the basic steps to review mapping state, configuration, and settings information using the Browser or SSCS user interfaces. Use this document if:
  • Volume mappings are not listed in the UI
  • Initiator mappings are not listed in the UI
  • Mappings are missing information
  • Syntax/Usage is needed to get Mapping state/details

Steps to Follow
Validating Mapping Status and Details on a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6920

A. Validate Array Version

Validate your array version by performing the following:

SSCS

sscs list storage-system

BUI

  1. Click Configuration Services or Common Array Manager
  2. Click the Version button in the upper left corner.

Continue to Step B.

B. Validating Overall Mappings for 3.2.0.38 and later

If you have a version below 3.2.0.38, go to Step C.

SSCS

no option for this currently. Continue to Step C.

BUI

  1. Click Common Array Manager
  2. Click the Mappings menu tree

This will display the following details in a table:

  • Volume name
  • Lun number
  • Mapped to(gives initiator name)
  • Permissions(read,write or read only)

Continue to Step C for instructions on getting more detail.

B. Validate Volume Mappings

SSCS
Volume mappings are listed as part of the Volume Details, under the Associations field. This field will provide:

  • Initiator name
  • Lun number for this volume on that initiator(0 through 255)
  • Permissions(read/write or read-only)
  • Mapping State(Online or Failure)

BUI

  1. Click on Configuration Services or Common Array Manager Link.
  2. Click on the Volumes tab or menu tree
  3. For the volume that you wish to view the mappings, the State field will
    show Mapped. If you click on that link, it will take you to the list of initiators mapped to that volume.

The resultant table lists:

  • Initiator name
  • Initiator status
  • Lun number for this volume on that initiator(0 through 255)
  • Permissions(read/write or read-only)
  • Mapping State(Online or Failure)

Continue to Step D.

D. Validating Initiator Mappings

Initiator mappings to volumes are listed as part of initiator details.

SSCS

Initiator mappings are listed as part of the Volume Details, under the Associations field. This field will provide:

  • Volume name
  • Lun number for this volume on that initiator(0 through 255)
  • Permissions(read/write or read-only)
  • Mapping State(Online or Failure)

BUI

  1. Click on Configuration Services or Common Array Manager Link.
  2. Click on the Physical Storage tab or menu tree
  3. Click on the Initiator tab or menu tree
  4. Click on the Initiator name link.
  5. Click on the Mapped Volumes link under additional details

This will show:

  • Volume name
  • Volume state(mapped)
  • Volume Condition(OK or failed)
  • Volume Type
  • Storage Domain
  • LUN number
  • Permissions
  • Mapping State(Online or Failure)
    Consider the following actions
  • If you are missing information, or the mapping state is Failed go to Step E
  • If the mapping details are correct, you have validated the Initiator Details, return to Step 2 of <Document: 1009915.1> Troubleshooting Sun StorEdge[TM] 6920 Configuration Problems

E. Data Collection for Missing or Incorrect Initiators

Please collect the following information:

  • 6920 Solution Extract, reference document <Document: 1003756.1> How to collect an extractor from a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6920 (2.x and 3.x)
  • sscs list initiator <initiator> output showing detail(or lack)
  • sscs list volume <volume> output showing detail(or lack)
  • sscs list sdomain

and contact Sun Support
