GoalPDU Cable Problems Can Short 48V's to Chassis Ground.Library Engineering has identified a potential problem in all SL8500 PDU's that will result in blown non-replaceable fuses on the HBF card. SolutionSteps to FollowTake the following steps to resolve this issue: If these fuses are blown on the HBF card for rail 3 the 48v relay will not pick in the PDU and no rail voltage will be present. The metal shielding on the cable inside the PDU can be compressed by mounting hardware and cause the metal shield to short out the cable to the PDU metal housing. Multiple cables in the PDU have this exposure but the cable identified to date is PN: 313890601. This cable runs from the HBUS card to the relay coil inside the PDU. The metal braid around this cable can be removed and electrical tape installed in its place as a temporary fix. If this issue is experienced with cable PN: 313890601 and 48v is shorted to chassis ground it will be necessary to replace the HBF card on rail 3 along with the changes to the PDU in question. Engineering has implemented EC changes to the cables inside the PDU to address this issue.
