Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1012221.1 : How to enable multiple serial consoles on Netra[TM] ct400/800
PreviouslyPublishedAs 216851 Description This document will describe how to enable and set up multiple serial consoles on the Netra[TM] ct400 and Netra[TM] ct800 systems on both Solaris[TM] 8 and Solaris[TM] 9 Operating Systems. This is for systems that use the CP1500 CPU card. Steps to Follow For Solaris 8 you must be at Solaris 8 Update 7 FCS or later and have the following patches installed in this order: 110790-04 or greater (Netra ct OBP PROM Update) For Solaris 9 you must have the following patches installed in this order: 113534-01 (Netra ct 1.0: OBP update for SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-Netract) After installing the patches, reboot the system. To enable ttymux 1. Bring the system down to OBP level At OBP level, 2. Run the following 2 commands to enable multiplexor feature. ok setenv input-device input-mux ok setenv output-device output-mux 3. Reset the machine. ok reset 4. Reboot the system. ok boot -r To disable the ttymux 1. To disable ttymux you need to be in alarm console (rsc prompt) 2. Type "reset" on the alarm console 3. Run the following 2 commands. ok setenv input-device ttya ok setenv output-device ttya 4. Reset the machine. ok reset 5. Boot the machine. ok boot Note: When you install/upgrade the OS or backout this patch, you should DISABLE the ttymux before the OS installation/upgrade or the patch removal.
