Goal

Description
Procedure to order a programmed replacement RLM card for the SL500 library.

Prior to ordering a new programmed RLM card, please try this procedure as we have success in re-establishing communication with the library.

1. Power off SL500, remove RLC, power up SL500 and waited 5 minutes.

2. Power off SL500, reinsert RLC, power up SL500.

This should allow you to access the library using the Admin or Service Password.

Solution

Steps to Follow
Order the programmed RLM as noted below and return the defective RLM back to SUN/StorageTek for Failure Analysis through your parts logistics repair path.

Procedure to order Programmed Replacement RLM card for SL500:

1. First, Local CSE must open a case and engage their local Specialist (TSS) or NSSE (Area Specialist).  A task needs to be opened and routed to Broomfield Tier 3 Support for review and final approval of the RLM Card Order.

Please Note: (Current part number 3139095xx may be subject to change in future Engineering change).

2. Once BRM Tier 3 gives approval for the programmed RLM, the CSE needs to send the request to their local Logistics analyst/specialist copying the Code A team using the following addresses:
 James Hidy <james.hidy@oracle.com> and "NEWMAN,SHARON" <sharon.newman@oracle.com>
Include in the email: the unit Serial number, the CEI number of the unit, the case ID number, plus the name of the Tier 3 Backline Engineer who approved the order.

Please Note:
- Failure to follow this procedure will delay the parts order until approval is verified.

- The Programmed RLM card is not an off the shelf order and must be set up specific to the library serial number and CEI.

- If you do not receive a response within one hour, contact your logistics analyst/specialist for escalation to Global Service Logistics.

3. The local Logistics analyst/specialist or one of the Code A team members will submit the Code A form, with the case ID, unit Serial number and the CEI number of the unit, plus the Tech Support Backline approval for processing via the Code A process, which expedites the programming of the RLM card.

Please Note:
The programmed RLM card is not an off the shelf order and must be set up specific to the site serial number and CEI for the particular SL500.
