FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty or defective PCI Card

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Data backup not required but recommended as a precaution
Orderly shutdown of applications
Shutdown of OS and power down of server

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed

1. Power off the server and unplug (REMOVE) the power cords
2. Remove the top cover
3. Locate the PCI card to be replaced
4. Label cables and disconnect from existing PCI card
5. Remove the back panel PCI cross beam by loosening the captive screws at each end and lifting up and back to remove it
6. Loosen the captive screw on the end of the riser. Remove the riser and the PCI card attached to it as a whole
5. Carefully remove the PCI card from the riser connector
6. Install the replacement PCI card into the riser connector
7. Re-install the riser card by sliding it back until it sits in the slot in the back panel and tighten the captive screw
8. Re-install the crossbar and tighten the captive screws
9. Re-connect the cables previously removed from the PCI card
8. Replace the top cover
9. Re-attach the power cords

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Verify access to the new PCI card and any peripheral attached to PCI card
