GoalHow to Remove and Replace a Sun Fire X4450 System Board BatterySolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONSWHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) Basic Sun hardware FE skills, familiarity or training for X4450 platform. DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: Schedule with maintenance window within contractual terms. FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed 1. Power off the server and disconnect (REMOVE) the power cords 2. Remove the main (top) cover| 3. Locate battery (behind PCI slots, PCI Riser Boards 2 & 5 will need to be removed) and remove by gently pulling the clip away from battery and lifting the battery straight up 4. Insert new battery with positive polarity facing chassis center 5. Replace main cover 6. Re-connect power cords 7. Reset the battery date & time. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
