How to remove and replace a T5120 Rack Mount Slide Rails

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

Rack Mount Slide Rails Install

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1) Install Slide Rail Assemblies

1. Pull both mounting brackets completely out of their respective slide rails.a. Simultaneously press and hold upper and lower lock buttons of slide rail lock.

b. Pull mounting bracket out until it locks in extended position.

c. Slide mounting bracket release button out, then slide the mounting bracket out of the slide rail.

d. Press metal lever (labeled Push) on the middle section of sliding rail, then push middle section back into rack.

2. Attach a mounting bracket to right side of chassis.a. Position mounting bracket against chassis. Ensure that slide rail lock is at front and 3 keyed openings on mounting bracket are aligned with 3 locating pins on side of chassis.

b. Ensure that heads of locating pins protrude though keyed openings in mounting bracket. Pull mounting bracket toward front of the chassis until bracket locks into place with an audible click.

c. Verify that all locating pins are trapped in keyed openings and that correct locating pin has engaged mounting bracket lock

3. Attach second mounting bracket to left side of chassis.

4. Determine which rack hole numbers to use when attaching slide rails to rack posts.

5. Determine which screws to use to mount slide rails.

6. Attach slide rail to right front rack post.a. Loosely attach front of a slide rail to right front rack post using 2 screws.

b. Adjust length of slide rail by sliding rear mounting flange to reach outside edge of rear rack post.

c. Loosely attach rear of slide rail to rear rack post with 2 screws.
7. Attach second slide rail to left rack posts in a similar manner.

8. Use slide rail spacing tool to adjust distance between slide rails.a. At front of rack, plug left side of tool into slots at end of left rail.

b. Insert right side of tool into front end of right rail.

c. Slide end of rail to right or left as needed to allow ends of tool to enter ends of both rails.

d. Tighten screws to lock ends of rails in place.

e. At rear of rack, repeat Step a through Step d for rear ends of rails.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
