No specific skills required DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: schedule with maintenance window *FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS* PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty DIMM WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Powering off the system 2. Remove the rear cover 3. Remove any PCI-X or PCI-E card 4. Remove the air baffle 5. Locate the DIMMs that you want to replace 6. Push down on the ejector tabs on each side of the DIMM until the DIMM is released 7. Grasp the top corners of the faulty DIMM and remove it from the server 8. Place the DIMM on an antistatic mat 9. Line up the replacement DIMM with the connector 10.Push the DIMM into the connector until the ejector tabs lock the DIMM in place 11.Reinstall the air baffle 12.Install the top cover. 13.Powering on the system OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: PARTS NOTE: REFERENCE INFORMATION: Service Manual. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19088-01/ TIME ESTIMATE: 30 Minutes Attachments This solution has no attachment |
